Project Goal

The Humboldt Street Bike Lane Alternatives Project aims to explore the City Council directed alternatives from the February 3, 2025 Council meeting by exploring the future of bike connectivity, pedestrian safety and traffic, and street lighting in the North Central neighborhoods on Humboldt, Fremont, and Idaho streets.

Community Engagement

Multiple opportunities were available to the community to provide input on this critical planning effort.

  • Community Workshops: There were three community workshops open to anyone to attend. 
  • Public Meetings: City staff will make presentations to the Sustainability and Infrastructure Commission and City Council in winter 2025 and 2026, respectively.
  • Community Surveys: 
    • Bike Lane Alternatives Survey: Thanks to those who completed the most recent survey and provided input on how Humboldt, Idaho, and Fremont streets are currently used and factors to consider for exploring a bikeway on Idaho and Fremont streets. The survey closed on November 18, 2025.
    • Streetlight Survey: Thanks to those who completed the most recent survey and provided input on the type of lighting improvements preferred by community members. The survey closed on October 15, 2025.

All community notifications and outreach materials will be posted in this section, along with details about where and how they were distributed. The City is committed to transparency and accountability throughout the project process.
