Welcome to the Community Development Department (CDD for short!) where we strive to ensure a quality built environment, healthy neighborhoods and a strong economic base in the City.
Community Development includes:
- Building Division: Ensures public safety, health and welfare through the effective administration and enforcement of local ordinances and California Building Codes.
- Code Enforcement: Enhances City of San Mateo's quality of life by ensuring and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of all residents and visitors.
- Neighborhood Improvement and Housing: Manages multiple programs designed to maintain the quality of neighborhoods and build new affordable housing through local and federal funds.
- Planning Division: Plans for the physical, social, and economic development of the City and ensures compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for both public and private projects.
