Transportation Planning
The Public Works Transportation Planning team strives to provide safe, convenient, and affordable transportation options for accessing places and opportunities in San Mateo. Our work encompasses all modes of transportation including personal and commercial vehicles, transit, bicycles, pedestrians as well as electric bikes and electric scooters.
Our most recent plans, projects, and policies include:
Resources
Bicycling
We've gathered some helpful resources to help you identify bike routes in San Mateo, learn how to load and unload your bicycle on public transit, and locating free bicycle repair stations across the city.
Public Transit
Try Transit for Free - Commuters and students traveling to or from San Mateo County are eligible for free tickets to try SanTrans, Caltrain, or San Francisco Bay Ferry if they currently drive alone to work. Learn more about how you can try transit for free.
Senior Rides Program - The Get Around! Senior Rides Program is a program offered through the Parks and Recreation Department that offers seniors living in San Mateo a safe and affordable means of transportation. As a participant in the Get Around! Senior Rides Program, you will be able to schedule your rides in advance or on-demand, 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
