Project Description
The proposed project is to develop a 122,538 square foot (or 2.81 acre) site currently serving as a 225 space surface parking lot for Caltrain’s Hayward Park Station. The proposed project consists of the following:
- Construct a new five-story, 226,965 square foot residential building
- 191 apartment units, including 16 units dedicated to the very low-income category (50% AMI) and 12 units dedicated to the moderate income category (80-120% AMI)
- 192 parking spaces, of which two ADA spaces would be available for Caltrain users
Project Update
The Planning Commission approved the subject project and adopted the project’s EIR Addendum on August 23, 2022 by a vote for 4-0. On February 29, 2024, the applicant filed a request to extend the expiration date of the project’s entitlement for two additional years to August 23, 2026. This extension request was approved by the Zoning Administrator on April 23, 2024 through Planning Application PA-2024-012.
