AB 341 - Commercial Recycling

Mandatory Commercial Recycling - It's the Law!

California Assembly Bill (AB) 341, which took effect July 1, 2012, requires all businesses that generate four (4) or more cubic yards of garbage per week and multi-family dwellings with five (5) or more units to recycle. The purpose of they law is to reduce garbage from landfills and reduce green house emissions.

Businesses include, but are not limited to:
Office buildings Retailers  Restaurants
Non-profits Strip Malls Government Offices
Schools    

Multi-family dwellings include, but are not limited to:
Apartments Townhomes Condominiums

Compliance is easy through the BizSmart Program available through Recology San Mateo County. Recycling services are included in your cost of garbage collection. Organic collection services are also available at a reduced rate. Call Recology at (650) 595-3900 to set up service or ask questions.
