G.I.: The American Soldier in World War II
by Lee Kennett
“This is an uncommon account of the aspects of a soldier’s life. Rather than cover the thrill of battle that we know all too well from movies and books, (which is actually the less frequent reality), it details the fears, motivations, drafts anticipation of drafts, etc. It gives a fuller picture of the lives of our heroes than most other accounts.”

Hekate: The Witch
by Nikita Gill
“ A retelling of the life of Hekate, the Greek Goddess of witchcraft and necromancy. Her story, told in poetry, is about how she escaped the Titan wars. The audiobook is read by the author and truly brings this book to life. I cannot wait for the next book in this series."

Wrong Place Wrong Time: A Novel
by Gillian McAllister
“A clever, twisting, engaging story told backwards (without losing the reader). Characters are not who you think they are, again and again.”

Halsey's Typhoon: The True Story of A Fighting Admiral, An Epic Storm, and An Unusual Rescue
by Bob Drury
“This details aspects of naval warfare that we seldom hear about – dealing with a deadly storm that killed more soldiers than most battles. Gripping and unique.”

Piglet: A Novel
by Lottie Hazell
“Don’t read while hungry because there are some really gorgeous descriptions of food. Really propulsive writing – a fast-paced read with visceral descriptions of a woman realizing her “perfect” lift is not what she thought.”

Stay True: a Memoir
by Hua Hsu
“Stay True combines the nostalgia of the 90’s with a devastating reflection on what it means to be a friend. I really enjoyed all the Bay Area references and could relate to a lot of Hsu’s struggles with his Asian American identity. The tragedy of Ken’s death reminds us all to cherish our time with loved ones.”

The Light Eaters: How the Unseen World of Plant Intelligence Offers a New Understanding of Life on Earth
by Zoe Schlanger
"This is a thought-provoking blend of science writing and nature essay that makes plant intelligence fell both plausible and deeply enchanting. It succeeds more as an invitation to look at familiar greenery as active, sensing beings rather than passive background greenery. It leaves you noticing roots, vines, leaves, as active participating in Earth’s story."
