N Central Community Based Transportation Plan

The City of San Mateo is currently working with the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG) and the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) to complete a community-based transportation plan (Plan) for North Central San Mateo.

Project Information
The Plan is prepared through a collaborative process involving residents of targeted communities, community-based organizations that provide services within these communities, local schools, transit operators, C/CAG and MTC. Each planning process involves a significant community outreach component to engage the direct participation of residents. The key components of the Plan are locally-identified transportation needs as well as ten detailed strategies to address them. The Plan will allow these strategies to obtain priority for funding, as well as being taken into consideration in the development of SamTrans' Short Range Transit Plan, which identifies planned transit improvements over the next ten years.

The study area for the Plan is located in the northern section of San Mateo and follows the boundaries for U.S. Census Tract 6062. The area is bordered by US Hwy 101 to the east, Poplar Avenue to the north, the Caltrain rail line to the west, and East 5th Avenue to the south.

Current Status
  • Anticipated future public hearings to review the plan include:
    • San Mateo City Council: tentatively scheduled for January 3, 2011 at 7:00pm in San Mateo City Hall Council Chambers
    • C/CAG Board: February 2011, exact date and time TBD
