Home Delivery 

Do you enjoy books, audiobooks, music and movies but need assistance in getting materials? 

San Mateo Public Library offers home delivery of library materials. The service is available to San Mateo and Hillsborough residents of all ages with a temporary or long-term illness, injury, impairment, medical condition, or disability who are unable to visit the library.

To enroll, please complete an application. Once enrolled, place holds either in our online catalog, by email smplhomedelivery@cityofsanmateo.org, or by phone (650) 522-7829. We will notify you of your scheduled delivery.

Home Delivery FAQs

Can anyone use this service? 
To qualify for home delivery services, you must:

  • Be a resident of San Mateo or Hillsborough
  • Possess, or be eligible for, a San Mateo Public Library card
  • Be unable to visit the library because of a temporary or long-term illness, injury, impairment, medical condition or disability

Note: space for this service is limited.

How many items can be delivered? 
San Mateo Public Library patrons may request up to 10 items for delivery.

What type of library materials may I request? 
You may request books, audiobooks, DVDs, large print books, and CDs.

How often can I expect a delivery? 
We deliver library materials twice a month. To return materials, simply leave them outside your door the day of your scheduled delivery.
