Bay Meadows
Since 2016, The City of San Mateo Public Works Department has completed 12 neighborhood Traffic Action Plan (TAP) reports and has begun implementing the report recommendations. Bay Meadows is the 13th neighborhood that has been selected to work with the City to develop a neighborhood TAP. See the Draft Bay Meadows TAP below:

Baze Road/Franklin Parkway
The City is actively implementing new measures to increase safety at the intersection of Baze Road and Franklin Parkway. Below are some improvements that have been completed, planned, and considered at the intersection to increase safety.
Completed
- 2023 Reconducted stop warrant for an All-Way stop at the intersection of Baze Road/Franklin Parkway (did not pass state guidelines)
- 2023 Installation of Speed Reduction Markings on westbound Franklin Parkway
- 2023 Performed tree trimming on Franklin Parkway
- 2022 Conducted traffic signal warrant assessments (did not pass state guidelines)
- 2022 Installation of Pedestrian Flashing Beacons at intersection island
- 2022 Installation of Advance Pedestrian Flashing Beacon on westbound Franklin Parkway
- 2022 Temporary westbound lane closure
- 2019 Conducted stop warrant assessment for an All-Way stop (did not pass state guidelines)
- 2019 Installation of curve warning signs
- 2019 Installation of Pedestrian Flashing Beacons
Future Long-Term Improvements in Consideration
- Permanent WB Franklin Parkway lane removal
This improvement will require a comprehensive traffic study.
- Installation of a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon
This improvement will require a comprehensive study as well as design.
- Installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Baze Road/Franklin Parkway
This improvement will require a traffic signal warrant assessment. If the intersection is able to pass the warrant assessment a full engineering design will be required.
