Caltrain, in cooperation with the City of San Mateo, will begin construction of the 25th Avenue Grade Separation project which includes raising the tracks and slightly lowering the road (grade separate) at E. 25th Avenue in San Mateo. This will improve safety for both motorists and pedestrians and will reduce local traffic congestion.
In addition to separating the tracks and road at E. 25th Avenue, the project will provide an opportunity to complete east-west street connections at 28th and 31st Avenues in conformance with the Bay Meadows Transit Oriented Development Plan.
As part of the improvements, Caltrain will build a new elevated Hillsdale Station and will relocate it northward between 28th and 31st Avenues. The new station will offer updated amenities, improve safety, and reduce traffic.
Caltrain is managing and overseeing construction of the project. The City is a project partner and will work closely with Caltrain to coordinate construction activities.
Construction is anticipated to begin this summer and will continue for 2 ½ years. For more information about the project, the schedule, and milestones, please visit www.caltrain.com/25thGS
