The City of San Mateo adopted a Climate Action Plan (CAP) in April 2015 that contained strategies to reduce emissions 15% below 2005 levels by 2020. Since the adoption of the 2015 CAP, a number of recommended strategies in the plan have been completed and the State’s climate goals have since been revised. The City began the process of updating the 2015 CAP in order to identify new greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, build on the City’s climate action implementation success and integrate with the General Plan update.
