A conversation with Israeli father and son luthiers and co-founders of Violins of Hope Amnon and Avshalom Weinstein, and James A. Grymes, author of "Violins of Hope: Violins of the Holocaust – Instruments of Hope and Liberation in Mankind’s Darkest Hour." The Violins of Hope documentary will be shown at 1:30 p.m. before the presentation with James Grymes and the Weinsteins. ** Oak Room, 1st Floor **
James Grymes, acclaimed author and professor of musicology at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, breathed life into history in this chronicle of violins played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust and of the Israeli violinmaker dedicated to bringing these inspirational instruments back to life. Violins of Hope won a National Jewish Book Award, has been translated into German and Japanese and is part of San Mateo Public Library’s Holocaust Collection. James Grymes’ presentation is one of several programs at the San Mateo Public Library as part of Violins of Hope San Francisco Bay Area.
