Get Prepared, More Storms on the WayLike most other cities on the Peninsula, San Mateo experienced significant impacts and flooding during the last storm. The City of San Mateo received 4-5 inches over 24 hours, instead of the 1 inch that was initially forecasted. A lot more rainfall is on the way and we encourage residents to be prepared. With the ground already saturated from the weekend storm system, we are preparing for additional impacts such as flooding and road closures. The National Weather Service predicts rain all week – with Wednesday and Thursday being the heaviest. For the latest forecast updates, visit www.weather.gov/mtr/ How You Can be Prepared:Get prepared NOW – get any supplies, groceries, sandbags etc. in advance If you are able, plan to avoid driving or being out on the roads. If you must drive, NEVER DRIVE THROUGH A FLOODED ROAD If you have a storm drain outside your home, consider adopting it to help clear it of debris prior to the rain www.cityofsanmateo.org/adoptadrain If you need to report an issue, call our non-emergency dispatch 650-522-7700, but please remember we are triaging many calls and crews are in the field responding.
