You Count! 2020 Census in San Mateo County
The national Census is coming up and it’s critically important all San Mateo residents participate. The count is used to make a lot of important decisions that affect our community – including things we rely on like roads, housing, schools, child care, hospitals and public transportation. It will help determine how much federal money and funding we receive, as well as our political representation.
You can fill out Census 2020 online, by mail or over the phone starting in late March. Everyone should participate regardless of citizenship status, age or criminal history. It only asks basic information so it will be quick, easy and safe. Learn more about why you count and how you can stay informed on the Census 2020 San Mateo County web page.
In San Mateo we have several community-based organizations helping with outreach and opening Questionnaire Centers where people can get assistance filling out the Census. Join the Bay Area Health Advisory Committee for a kick-off celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 1 at the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, 825 Monte Diablo Ave., San Mateo. The church in the North Central Neighborhood will host a Questionnaire Center where anyone can go for Census 2020 information, translation services and assistance starting April 1.
