This program will focus on arts during the Japanese internment camps.

Program highlights include:

  • A screening of “Hidden Legacy: Japanese Traditional Performing Arts in the World War II Internment Camps”, a documentary about traditional music, dance, and drama in the internment camps.
  • Koto artist, Shirley Kayuzo Muramoto-Wong.
  • Poet and author, Brian Komei Dempster.
  • Author Kimi Kodani Hill, granddaughter of Chiura Obata and the author of “Topaz Moon: Chiura Obata’s Art of the Internment.”
  • A short video on Topaz by Evan Kodani of the Japanese American National Musuem.
