About the speaker: Dr. James Ford is Professor of Medicine & Genetics, Division of Oncology, and Director of Clinical Cancer Genetics and Genomics at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He is devoted to studying the genetic basis of breast and GI cancer development, treatment and prevention.

Dr. James Ford is a medical oncologist and geneticist focused on understanding the genetic basis of cancer risk, development and treatment responses. He directs Stanford’s cancer genomics program and the Molecular Tumor Board that performs molecular profiling of metastatic cancers in order to identify novel, individualized, targeted therapies for cancer patients lacking additional standard therapies. He will discuss the challenges and potential promises of this new approach to cancer care. This event is sponsored by the Library's Biotechnology Learning Center.
