Building the Bond between Cops and Kids!

San Mateo Police Activities League seeks to provide every youth with an opportunity to participate in PAL activities. During these uncertain times, we are excited to be offering virtual classes to continue our mission of keeping the community engaged and active. For PAL virtual classes on this page, participants must be a 2020 PAL member to register. Membership is FREE!

Virtual Classes

Visit www.sanmateorec.org to complete the PAL membership process online. For questions, e-mail smpal@cityofsanmateo.org. All classes are offered online using Zoom. Upon registration, you will be emailed a Zoom meeting ID# before the first class.

Junior Giants

A FREE Virtual Season that brings the fun of the field to your home! Sign up online at jrgiantsathome.org!


Junior Giants Summer Season: Ages 5-18 yrs. 

SEASON 1: Monday, June 8 - Friday, July 3

SEASON 2: Monday, July 6 - Friday, July 31

During the 4-week season, Junior Giants are introduced to the fundamentals of the game along with important lessons in health, education and character development.

  • Live, age-specific sessions twice per week (specific session times dependent on league location and player age)
  • Sessions led by Junior Giants AmeriCorps Ambassadors
  • Featuring skills & drills videos made specifically for Junior Giants by Giants Manager Gabe Kapler and his coaching staff
  • 25-35 minute team-style sessions that focus on: 
    • Physical activity & nutrition
    • Baseball skills & drills
    • Reading
    • Junior Giants Four Bases of Character Development: Leadership, Teamwork Confidence and Integrity
  • Bullying Prevention
