Project Area: The intersections of 4th Avenue and Fremont Street, 5th Avenue and Delaware Street, and 9th Avenue and Delaware Street between the Central and North Central Neighborhoods. 

Project Description: This intersection will be improved with pedestrian crosswalks, ADA-compliant ramps and curb extensions with Green Infrastructure elements.

  • curb extensions/bulb-outs to reduce the pedestrian crossing street width and provide added visibility
  • Green Infrastructure for stormwater management improvement to reduce pollutants flowing to the bay, creating a healthier environment for everyone

Construction Timeline:
Work is scheduled to begin in fall 2019 and conclude by the end of the year.

Anticipated Work Hours:
8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

Expected Construction Impacts 
Typical to most construction projects, you will experience the following impacts:

  • Temporary lane closures.
  • Delays when traveling through the construction area.
  • Limited access to driveway for brief periods.

The selected contractor and the on-site construction inspector will work with residents on any short term impacts.
