Commercial Service & Fees

On Oct. 18, 2021, City Council approval the proposed rate increases for 2022. In August 2021, we issued a Notice of Public Hearing to all Recology customers in our City as it considered a rate increase as part of Prop 218.

Below is the list of new rates for 2022 below. New rates are effective Jan. 1, 2022.

Service & Fees Overview

As a business owner, your disposal needs are varied and therefore, the rates are determined by a number of factors all based on your circumstances.

We have created a simplified version of the rates sheet to make finding your rate easier. You’ll need to know the following things to read the charts:

  1. The size of your cart
  2. How many containers you have serviced
  3. The number of days you receive service
Businesses have fees for garbage and fees for organics, so be sure to refer to the various parts of the fee summary below to get a complete picture of services and fees.

Cart Service Hours

For Downtown San Mateo – defined as the area zoned as Central Business District or Central Business District Support – all solid waste containers must be at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the day prior to service and returned to their usual location by 11 a.m. the day of service.
