Emily C. Smith, PLANKS installation November 4, 2022 - December 21, 2022
As a lifelong artist, Emily C. Smith is always looking for the next opportunity to translate her everyday experiences into artistic expressions. With degrees from UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego and NYU, Emily continues to push the boundaries to explore her personal vision through paint. PLANKS is a color experiment exposing color to random environments. The work is in flux and travels from public spaces to corporate offices, private homes to outdoor gardens. The installation temps the viewer to challenge perspectives and take note of their conditions within environments. The paintings have a makeshift magnetism, a frequency, that invents new identities for every space it is placed. Planks are made from donated wood from a skateboard company in San Diego, California. The work has been in progress since 2000.

November 3, 2022 - January 4, 2023
Dan Hager, award-winning artist, has been creating ceramic art since 1980 in and around the San Francisco Bay Area and Nevada. In his work you'll see the influence of ceramic masters with whom he's studied, but you'll be struck most by Dan's originality and the range of his style and skills. "I'm keenly interested in creating surface treatments that are unique and are reflective of my ceramic life experiences and my sense of design.” Dan’s works have won numerous awards, but the one that means the most to him was being selected for inclusion in the 2020 de Young Open Exhibit in San Francisco.
