Growing with advanced technology, sophisticated training and personal dedication, today’s San Mateo Fire Department is prepared to respond to emergency medical calls and fires, rescues, assist at traffic accidents and major disasters.

Through safety training and preparedness, we strive to educate the community about fire and life safety skills for everyday life. Training the community to prepare themselves is the first step in response to major disasters when firefighters are overwhelmed or unable to respond due to overload.
