Crime Statistics - By Neighborhood

The San Mateo Police Department responds to multiple calls for service each day. To make crime information more accessible to the public, we are providing a summary of specific crimes that have occurred in each neighborhood of the city.

The following statistics are from the year 2003 to June 2008 and include the following kinds of crimes:  

  • Robbery: Taking of property from the victim by force or fear.
  • Residential Burglary:  Entering a residence with intent to commit a theft or other crime.
  • Stolen Vehicle:  Theft of a motor vehicle.
  • Theft from Vehicles:  The unlawful taking of property from a locked or unlocked car.
  • Vandalism:  Malicious damage to property and includes graffiti.
  • Assault: Willful and unlawful use of force against a person.
