Local Farmers' Markets
25th Avenue Farmers' Market - Every Tuesday
Watch a parking lot transform into an agricultural marketplace filled with fresh fruits and vegetables. DATES: through October 15

San Mateo Farmers’ Market - Every Saturday
This year-round market has earned a reputation as one of the best markets on the Peninsula with more than 100 farmers and producers participating. DAYS: Saturdays

Library Summer Reading Program (all summer)
The Library offers its free summer reading program (“Paws to Read”) for all ages from birth through 12th grade. Reading/activity logs will be available for different age levels from preschool to teens. The Library will be offering a number of fun, special programs throughout the summer. Annual Fall Book Sale (Friends of the San Mateo Public Library)
Pick from a great selection of books at bargain prices. Proceeds will help develop the Library's collections.  Shop all 3 days - new books everyday! DATES: September 19 & 20, 10am-4:30pm

Annual Bayfront Clean-up
In 2013, rain did not stop more than 900 volunteers of all ages from our community, schools, businesses, service groups, and churches from collecting five tons of litter and close to 1,000 pounds of recycling from our shoreline, lagoon, and San Mateo Creek. The highlight of the event each year is the "Catch of the Day" where volunteers get to show off their most "unusual" finds. Be prepared to get dirty, have a good time, and help the environment.  DATE: September 20

Wine Walk 2014
Enjoy an afternoon in Downtown San Mateo celebrating the 18th year of this community favorite. Downtown merchants open their shops as "Tasting Rooms" where you can sip and savor wines from California's best wine regions. Businesses participating in the Wine Walk go all out and invite you to explore all they have to offer! Many partner with local restaurants or provide light bites for you to nibble while you taste. Music, entertainment, prizes and a lively atmosphere are all part of the experience for Wine Walk attendees and our downtown businesses won't disappoint!

The event ends just in time for dinner, so stay downtown and enjoy some of our fine dining and make the most of your time in San Mateo. Get your tickets early to reserve your spot for this popular event. It goes on rain or shine.

Bacon & Brew Festival
Don't miss the Second Annual Bacon and Brew Festival sponsored by the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy a fun afternoon in Central Park sampling everything bacon and sipping a variety of craft brews and wines from throughout California. Family style entertainment and other festivities area also in the works. DATE: September 27
