Senior Center

Our Senior Center hosts a vibrant mix of activities.  On any given day at the Senior Center, there can be a dozen things happening from yoga classes to a history seminar, from bingo to billiards or mahjong.

If you are 50+, we encourage you to visit us.  Once you visit, we’re sure you’ll find a reason to come back.

Regular Senior Center Programming:

Bingo
Enjoy a game every Wednesday from 2pm-4pm. (Doors open at 1:30pm)

Book Discussion Group
The Book discussion group meets at the San Mateo Senior Center on 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am. Feel free to join us. No Pre-registration required. Drop-ins welcomed.

Computer/Technology Classes
Demystify computers. The San Mateo Activity Guide has the latest details on our computer/technology classes. 

Arm Chair Travel
Learn about wonderful destinations through video clips every Friday at 1pm.

Movie Daze & Hot Dog Lunch
Have a hot dog lunch Thursdays at noon and then enjoy a movie with your friends.

Drop In Billiards
Every Monday and Wednesday from 1pm - 4pm you can sharpen your game.

Opinion Exchange with Jim Dunbar 
Join the former KGO Radio Host on the first Thursday of every month at 11am for a lively discussion on current events.

Band
On Fridays from 9am - 10:30am, you can reconnect with the musician inside of you with the help of our band volunteer leading the way.

Chorus
On Fridays from 10:15am - 11:30am, you can sing away with other people who love music.

World Current Events
On Fridays from 1:30pm - 3:30pm, join Eric Gattman, former professor on current events, as he leads a lively dialogue on today’s world events.

ESL 
Classes held at the San Mateo Senior Center every Wednesday from 9am-10:30am. This class is geared for senior citizens of all nationalities, but non-seniors are also welcome. The emphasis is on ordinary conversations in English. Topics include health care, travel, food, ethnic cultures, worldwide news, the arts and entertainment. Students who already have rudimentary proficiency in English will benefit the most. Slowly paced to practice with new friends. Classes are free and you can join any time. Registration is required.
