Citywide LED Streetlight Conversion Phase I and II
Project Description
The City of San Mateo has contracted with Siemens Industry Inc. to replace approximately 3,900 cobra head (Phase I) and 1,100 decorative streetlights (Phase II) with new energy efficient LED fixtures throughout the City.

Project Benefits
After converting the streetlights over to the new LED source, the City is estimated to see the following benefits:
  • Annual energy savings of $280,000 
  • 2,000,000 kilowatt hours of electricity saved annually
  • Reduction of 3,000,000 pounds of CO2 annually
  • Improved Color Rendering Index (CRI) for better lighting quality
  • Reduction of light pollution in accordance with Dark Sky Objectives

Implementation Timeline
Summer 2016 – Early 2017

Anticipated Construction Impacts
During the installation of the new fixtures you may experience the following impacts:
  • Temporary lane closures
  • Limited access to parking spaces
  • Minimal delays when traveling through a construction location
