Ongoing Long-Term Transportation Planning
2030 Traffic Models and Traffic Mitigation Program
We periodically study current driving trends by using computer generated traffic models to predict long-term planning needs.
The future traffic pattern models are based on data from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission
and the Association of Bay Area Governments
. Among the many things these Bay Area organizations do is forecast trends in housing and employment development and examine how those trends will impact street traffic.
The City will use this data to develop a planning program that supports acceptable levels of traffic and roadway use, to mitigate congestion and provide for adequate car, bike, pedestrian and public transit access on city roads.
