Winter Weather Information
Winter Storm PreparednessAre You Prepared for the Upcoming Winter Season?
Even though the rest of the country associates sunshine and palm trees with the state of California, we still experience the type of winters that can bring some extreme weather patterns. Below are some of the ways you can help prepare your home and family for what winter may bring our way this season.
How You Can Protect Your Home & Family
Emergency Kit Keep an emergency kit in your house. Check out the www.ready.gov website for some helpful resources on this subject.
Clean Gutters of Debris Keep your gutters clear of leaves and debris.  These items can clog storm drains and lead to flooding.  If you see leaves covering a storm drain grate clean them off.  The City of San Mateo asks residents to never lift or remove storm drains.
Rain in the Forecast If rain is in the forecast, homeowners are encouraged to get sandbags to protect your property.  The City offers a 24/7 self-serve sandbag station at the City of San Mateo Corporation Yard.
