June 17th
The B Stars
(Honky Tonk/Hillbilly Swing)
The B Stars will get the joint jumpin’ and your toes tappin’ with a good ol’ dose of vintage country and hillbilly swing.  Hailing from San Francisco with a back pocket of country songs and the desire to dust off old forgotten hillbilly tunes, The B Stars pay a courteous nod to the country and western stars of the late 1940’s through the early 1960’s. Formed in 2006 the band features original tunes that pay tribute to the likes of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, and other great musicians of this era.

Julio Bravo
(Salsa)
Julio Bravo y su Orquesta Salsabor brings together talented and ambitious musicians with roots in Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Europe. Assembled in 1994, Julio Bravo y su Orquesta Salsabor is energetic and versatile, fun to watch and fun to dance to. They perform original songs as well as traditional classic salsa, merengues, boleros and cha-chas. Julio's unique interpretations and distinctive style are the band's trademarks.

Ed Johnson & Novo Tempo
(Brazilian/Contemporary Jazz)
Life-long musician and Palo Alto native, Ed Johnson and his orchestra, Novo Tempo, bring an evocative mix of Brazilian influenced, contemporary jazz to the 2010 Music Series. Johnson, a master of multiple musical genres has a passion for creating harmonizing vocal and horn arrangements that create a magical blend of vibrant, original contemporary jazz.  He’s been winning fans worldwide with his unique world fusion sound. It’s unlike anything you ever heard before.

The Release

San Francisco’s latest talent performs their debut album, Whole Night Through, at this summer’s concert series. The Release is inspired by the sounds of alternative rock and reggae. Their music is an infusion of positive energy and soothing melodies – creating an uplifting sound of lively music.

Anna Laube
(Soulful folk and Blues)
Anna Laube, a natural born wanderer, laid down tracks while living in San Francisco.  Still boasting a 650 area code (although who knows where she’ll be tomorrow), her latest album 'Pool All the Love * Pool All the Knowledge' is a collection of songs inspired by her time on the road. We think you’ll fall for her sweet melodic voice and soulful tunes about the life less traveled.

Lee Waterman Jazz Caliente
(Latin Jazz)
Guitarist and composer Lee Waterman's Latin jazz ensemble, Jazz Caliente, percolates with infectious Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms. Lee founded the band in 1989 as a vehicle for his original work and unique arrangements of songs by the great Jazz and Latin masters, including Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Tito Puente, and Sergio Mendes.  Waterman’s original music features unity among diverse cultures, with Jazz as its common musical language.

The Department of Rock

With one ultimate mission to fulfill, The Department of Rock will defend your right to party and protect you from sub-standard rock-n-roll.  Featuring great classic rock hits from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today, The Department of Rock puts on a uniquely entertaining show.  They won’t quit until their mission is complete – let their infectious high energy lift you out of your seats and onto the dance floor!

Opening Act: The Bay Area Girls
(Pop Rock)
A special treat for young-at-heart, pop-star loving music fans – The Bay Area Girls – a talented group of pre-teens will perform their own original hits as well as covers from the likes of Miley Cyrus, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, KT Tungstall, Joan Jett and many others. We are pleased to have them open this season’s last concert and help bring the 2010 Music Series to its inevitable close.

Get ready to have some fun!  Masterpiece is known for creating a buzz and getting audiences on the dance floor with their wide array of popular R&B dance tunes.  Masterpiece consistently astounds audiences with their festive, high-energy performances.  Get ready to enjoy a stellar evening of memorable music as this summer’s concert series comes to an end.
