What is YAC?
What is the Youth Activities Council?
The Youth Activities Council, also known as the YAC, is a group of high school aged teens who represent the voices of youth in San Mateo. The teens on the council get involved in city wide projects which include volunteering with various organizations, raising money for teen activities and assisting professionals with programming for their age group. The YAC is a great way for teens to have their voices heard by government officials and allows them a chance to network with professionals and prominent figures in the San Mateo community. The teens on the council look for ways to improve or enhance city facilities, help out in the community, plan activities, events and trips. The council meets monthly on a volunteer basis. It is a great resource to add to college applications as well as a way to earn service hours and council experience. Please see the Youth Activities Council Application if you are interested in joining or have any questions.
