The Youth Activities Council’s primary mission is to provide experiences and opportunities for the youth and young adult population of San Mateo by:

  • Providing safe and enjoyable activities
  • Creating community through special events
  • Teaching and enhancing leadership skills through service learning experiences Learning to see the world around us and understanding our role in decision-making
  • Connecting with other youth commissions/councils to expand our network of knowledge
  • Communicating with professionals and city leaders to further our understanding of government and civil participation
  • Empowering youth to have a voice in the political arena, to get involved, and make a difference!
