Maintenance / Service Requirements
Regular Maintenance
  • Standpipe systems shall be maintained operable at all times and maintenance inspections shall be performed at least semi-annually.
  • Standpipe systems shall be serviced at least every five years.
  • Automatic fire sprinkler systems shall be maintained operable at all times and maintenance inspections shall be performed at least quarterly.
  • Automatic fire sprinkler systems shall be serviced at least every five years.
  • Pre-engineered and engineered fixed extinguishing systems shall be serviced semi-annually, and immediately after a system activation.
    • All standpipe and automatic fire sprinkler systems which were installed prior to January 1, 1963, and have not been serviced within the last five years, shall be serviced immediately.
    • When proof of the installation date of standpipe systems or automatic fire sprinkler systems cannot be furnished, such systems shall be serviced immediately.
A license is not required to perform maintenance inspections, but all repairs / service must be performed by a professional contractor licensed by the State Fire Marshal and must be preceded by a permit.
