Fitness Frequently Asked Questions

What do I wear?
Workout clothing and tennis shoes for all cardio and strength training classes. Bare feet for most Movement Awareness classes, including Yoga, Pilates and Feldenkrais, and thin soled shoes for Tai Chi.

Want to make-up a class?
If you miss, or plan to miss your fitness class, you can make it up in most of our dance or fitness offerings with the exception of Ballroom Dance and Yoga, where make-ups are welcome only if prior yoga experience. Past experience is recommended in order to use make-ups in advanced level classes. Must be currently enrolled in our Dance & Fitness program in order for Make-Up Policy to apply.

Not sure which class is right for you?
You can purchase a Drop-in Pass at the center’s front desk and present it to the class monitor or instructor.

  • $9 Drop-in Pass - can be used for classes less than or up to an hour.
  • $12 Drop-in Pass - can be used for classes longer than an hour.

Drop-in Passes can only be used in classes where there is available space, so please check with the front desk first.

What are the age minimums for Fitness classes?
Strength Training and Cardio: 16 yrs. Old. Movement Awareness: 14 yrs. Old. These age restrictions can be waived with the permission of the Instructor or Supervisor.

Is Child Care available?
Yes. While you work out in fitness classes at Beresford Center, Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings leave your child in the good hands of our child care providers between 9:00 am – 11:15 am.

Do current students have priority registration for a class?
Yes. Current students can secure a spot in any fitness class before registration is open to the general public, if they are continuing in the same class.
