Building Blocks Preschool Teacher Bios

Heather Murphy
Preschool Lead Teacher
Heather has taught preschool since 2005, but her work with children spans a decade, working on after school and summer programs in the City of San Mateo. She has an AA in Education from the College of San Mateo, is working on a BA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on teaching at Notre Dame De Namur University, and attends as many trainings in Early Childhood Education as she can. Heather strives to help the children in her care develop a love of learning and school. “I look forward to seeing children rise to the next step in their development,” she says. “Nothing is more rewarding than hearing a child say, ‘Teacher, I did it!’ ”

Marisa Cajbon
Preschool Lead Teacher
Marisa discovered her love of teaching children at 16 when she was a lifeguard and swim instructor. Inspired to choose a career in education, Marisa earned an AA in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, and is working toward her BA in Liberal Studies with a foundation in teaching at Notre Dame de Namur University. Marisa has taught preschool for seven years, working hard to create a classroom that is fun, safe, nurturing, and full of learning opportunities. “Children are forced to grow up so quickly, and I hope I can provide a place where children can be children and enjoy the benefits of learning through play,” she says.
