When do I need a Sign Permit?
A permit is required for:
- New signs
- Modified signs
- Painted signs
- Illuminated signs (An electrical permit is also required)
Are there any requirements for temporary signs?
Temporary signs also require a sign permit from the Building Division.
Temporary signs include:
- Pennants and similar devices for business grand openings; promotional, new model homes or sales events.
- Time limit: signs can be displayed 30 days from the date of installation, but not to exceed 60 days per calendar year.
- Flotation or air-filled devices are not allowed.
What if I just want to put a sign in my window?
Window signs do not need permits, but may not cover more than 25% of the total area of the window up to a total of 50 square feet of signage per street frontage.
