Residential Parking Permits

We sometimes receive requests from neighborhoods that feel their parking availability is limited due to overflow of parking from adjacent areas. When we get these requests, the city will implement a residential parking permit program based on neighborhood needs.

Residential Parking Permits
Residential Parking Permits are issued for residents of neighborhoods whose parking is impacted by local traffic generators such as hospitals, business and high schools.  The program aims at discouraging overflow parking into residential streets. Neighborhoods with a residential parking permit program have restricted permit parking signs posted.

Interested in This Program for Your Neighborhood?
If you are interested in having this program implemented in your neighborhood, review the Residential Parking Permit Policies Guide.

Live In a Program Area?
If you are in a program area and want to obtain a permit, complete and submit a Residential Parking Permit Application, along with vehicle registration and proof of residency to the City Hall Public Works counter.

Any vehicle registered to a property within a designated parking permit area is eligible for a parking permit sticker. Each household is also eligible for a transferable visitor hangtag. The 2 hour parking limit will be enforced for any vehicles that don’t display the required parking sticker or visitor hangtag.

At this time, there is no charge for the permit.

Permit Expiration
Permits are valid for a 2-year cycle.  Residential parking permit program participants will get a renewal notice prior to the expiration of the permit cycle. This permit cycle is 1/1/2017 – 12/31/2018.
