Many bulky household items or large amounts of waste can be picked up by the garbage hauler. You are allowed 2 on-call clean-up services per year.
Rules and Limits
If you live in a single-family home:
Residents of single-family homes are allowed to set out a maximum of 2 cubic yards of material, which is equivalent to 12 32-gallon bags of material. In addition, residents can set out 1 large item such as washing machine, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, mattress, furniture, a computer or a TV as long as the item does not exceed 200 pounds. No commercial size refrigerators or freezers are accepted. TVs and computer monitors require special handling so please call (650) 595-3900 to dispose of these items. Nohazardous waste - (paints, thinners, or other chemicals) will be accepted for on-call clean-ups or for regular collection service.
If you live in a Multi-Family Dwelling:
Apartment buildings, duplexes, triplexes, and other buildings with groups of independent households.
If you live in a multi-family dwelling and are interested in having a large item picked up, please work with your property manager who can coordinate the “twice yearly” pick up for your building. The garbage hauler will provide the property manager with all of the needed information to coordinate the effort.
