Building Blocks Preschool Teacher Bios

Fabiana Carvallo-King
Preschool Lead Teacher
I am a graduate of Early Childhood Education and have been working with children for a little over twenty years. My teaching style encompasses Modeling behavior and facilitating the learning process as a demonstrator. I feel that it is important to provide a safe, fun, creative and nurturing environment, where our children can continue to grow confidently and play every day. I believe that with the collaboration of school, community and family our children will have a wonderful growth experience and a solid early childhood development foundation.

Sheila Franco
Preschool Lead Teacher
I have been teaching in the Building Blocks preschool program for the past 13 years. I hold a certificate of Achievement in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and I am bilingual in Spanish. Every year, I attend a minimum of two seminars to further develop my knowledge of ECE. My goal is to continue growing as a professional so that I can give your child the best possible learning experience in order to help them develop and prepare for their next developmental stage.

I believe preschool children learn best when they are able to learn through play and self-directed activities. I’m looking forward to working with your child, and our family. Together we can make a terrific year for learning and growing experiences.

Christie Loftus
Preschool Lead Teacher
I have worked for the Building Blocks Preschool program for two years. I have taught at all Preschool levels, Parent Tot classes, Friends & Me, Tiny Tots and Pre-K. I have also taught at the Elementary level, first and fourth grades. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Francisco State and earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the University of San Francisco. I recently earned my Early Childhood Education Supervisor teaching permit from Canada college. My teaching style follows the Play Based teaching philosophy. My classrooms are fun, safe places to learn, explore and make friends. I believe developing a strong bond of trust and building the child up from within is the key to helping young children foster an early love of school and learning.

Heather Murphy
Preschool Lead Teacher
I have been teaching preschool going on 10 years and have loved every minute of it. I have taught preschool at the City of San Mateo in various locations, and have taught everything from our parent and child classes, up to Pre-Kindergarten. I have my AA in Education and am currently working on completing my BA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Early Education. I have a strong belief in play based learning along with project approach. I love to cater my themes around what the children are currently interested in. I believe that every child is different and will reach their developmental milestones at different times. I believe my job is to help them reach the next step in their development.
